Before the reform and opening up, Wenjindu Port was a trading port, only for Hong Kong fresh commodities.
From the founding of the People’s Republic of China to the mid-1970s, the Wenjindu Port was basically without cars, and the export of fresh commodities relied on human transportation to transit through the border.
In May 1976, the first road bridge was built at Wenjindu Port.
In 1978, the Wenjindu Port was approved by the State Council of China and opened to the outside world. It was the first comprehensive highway port for passenger and freight in China.
In February 1985, a new highway bridge was built at Wenjindu Port to implement separate bridges for entry and exit vehicles.
In February 2005, the original entry-exit bridge at Wenjindu Port was demolished, and a two-way entry-exit bridge was built and put into use.
On February 22, 2010, the passenger transport area of Wenjindu Port was closed to prepare for the renovation project of the travel inspection site.
In May 2011, the renovation project of the passenger inspection site at Wenjindu Port started construction. In October, the main part of the renovation project of the travel inspection site at Wenjindu Port was fully started. On November 18, the construction of the foundation project of the travel inspection site at Wenjindu Port was completed.
On January 10, 2012, the structure of the parking building at Wenjindu Port was topped; on March 29, the structure of the joint inspection building was completed at the Wenjindu Port. On July 30, the steel structure of the parking building was completed at Wenjindu Port. On August 30, the steel structure construction of the joint inspection building at Wenjindu Port was completed. On October 15, the curtain wall construction of Wenjindu Port was completed, and the outer frame was completely demolished. On November 5, the outdoor project of Wenjindu Port was fully launched. [3]
On January 20, 2013, the interior decoration project of Wenjindu Port was basically completed. On May 8, the completion acceptance of Wenjindu Port was completed. On June 21, Wenjindu Port completed the fire protection inspection. On August 19, the passenger transport area of Wenjindu Port passed the acceptance of the inspection team of the Port Office of Guangdong Province. On August 26, the passenger transport area of Wenjindu Port resumed operation.
