Tianjin Port (Tianjin Port) is located in Binhai New Area, Tianjin, China, at the western end of Bohai Bay, backed by Xiongan New Area, radiating northeast, north, northwest and other inland hinterland, connecting Northeast Asia and Central and West Asia, and is the sea of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The gateway is the eastern starting point of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, an important node of the new Eurasian Continental Bridge, and the strategic fulcrum of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road[1]. In the tenth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1860), Tianjin Port was opened to the outside world and became a trading port; on October 17, 1952, Tianjin Port reopened [2]. As of 2019, the coastline of Tianjin Port has a total length of 32.7 kilometers, a water area of 336 square kilometers, and a land area of 131 square kilometers. Tianjin Port is composed of 5 port areas: Beijiang Port Area, Nanjiang Port Area, Dongjiang Port Area, Southern Port Economic Zone, and Eastern Area of Nangang Port Area. In 2018, the cargo throughput of Tianjin Port was 440.04 million tons, and the foreign trade cargo throughput was 258.64 million tons [3].

On July 8, 2019, the world’s largest container ship "Mediterranean Gulson" made its maiden voyage at Tianjin Port [11].

In 2013, the cargo throughput of Tianjin Port exceeded 500 million tons, and the container throughput exceeded 13 million TEU [12].

In 2016, the total cargo throughput of Tianjin Port reached 550 million tons, and the container throughput reached 14.5 million TEU [13].

In 2018, the cargo throughput of Tianjin Port was 446.04 million tons, the same year-on-year [3]; Tianjin Port ranked ninth among the top ten ports in the world in terms of port cargo throughput [14]. The throughput of foreign trade cargo was 258.64 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.1%. The domestic trade cargo throughput was 187.4 million tons, an increase of 4.7%. 10,000 TEU, down 0.2% year-on-year, domestic trade container throughput was 7.974 million TEU, up 13.5% year-on-year; 116 international cruise ships were received, and 683,000 inbound and outbound passengers[3].
